I discovered my love for pottery five years ago after taking a class on a whim with a friend, and I have not looked back since. What started as curiosity quickly became the passion of a lifetime. Today, I run Khatya’s Ceramics out of my Nashville home studio, where I spend countless hours throwing, trimming, glazing, and refining each piece by hand, and occasionally embracing a little creative chaos. I also teach beginner pottery classes through Metro, where I encourage students to see pottery as personal, not perfect.

My creative process begins with clean, simple forms on the wheel. I am drawn to shapes that feel timeless and functional, pieces meant to be used daily, not just admired. From there, I layer in personality through glaze, surface design, and subtle details. I love working with neutral tones, but I also embrace bold color pairings, playful drawings, and unexpected elements. Inspiration comes from geometric shapes, seasonal rhythms, fruit and florals, and even wandering the aisles of TJMaxx. Some collections lean minimal and calm, while others feature ghosts, pumpkins, black cats, festive trees, florals, or fruit, small touches that bring character and joy.

Every piece is made start to finish by hand in my studio and thoughtfully designed to be both beautiful and practical. All of my work is food, dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe. Because of the handmade nature, no two pieces are exactly alike, and I see that individuality as part of their charm.

At its core, my work is about turning ordinary moments into something special, from your morning coffee to a shared meal with loved ones. Success to me looks like someone reaching for their favorite mug on a hard morning and finding a small spark of joy in the middle of a busy day. I create pottery that lives life with you, pieces that are held, used, repaired, and kept. It is functional art that blends simplicity with bold playfulness and celebrates individuality in everyday routines.
